Tikehau taps Unilever VP to lead regenerative agricultural practice
Tikehau Capital has appointed Unilever executive Laurent-David Charbit as co-head of its regenerative agricultural practice.
Charbit joins from Unilever, where he held various roles across 12 years in Switzerland, Singapore, the Netherlands and the UK, according to press release by the GP. Most recently, he was vice president of global climate and sustainability at the fast moving consumer goods group.
Based in London, he will work alongside Hélène Henry-Prince, executive director and co-head of the regenerative agriculture private equity practice.
In May this year, Tikehau joined forces with Unilever and insurance company Axa to launch its EUR 1bn Regenerative Agriculture fund.
At the time, a spokesperson for Tikehau told Unquote the vehicle aims to invest in 15-20 businesses, deploying EUR 30m-EUR 100m per deal, with the option to invest gradually or in a multi-year funding commitment. The vehicle, which is classified as Article 9 of the Sustainability Disclosure Regulation for the financial services sector, aims to support businesses contributing to accelerate the regenerative agriculture transition.
The fund will focus on three core areas: inputs, which include bio-control, seeds and breeds, animal feed, bio-stimulants and fertilisers; equipment, such as in water management, automation and robotics, precision agriculture, methanisation and agrivoltaism; and ingredients, including plant-based dairy alternatives, sustainable oleochemicals, fermentation and insect-based alternatives
