Travers Smith names new head of PE and financial sponsors group
Law firm Travers Smith has promoted partner Lucie Cawood to head of private equity and financial sponsors following the poaching of its previous practice lead by Cleary Gottlieb earlier this month.
Cawood, who joined the London-headquartered firm in 2003 and became a partner in 2012, will be assisted in the new role by Will Yates as her deputy, according to a press release.
Her promotion follows the departure of Ian Shawyer for law firm Cleary Gottlieb.
Cawood has over 20 years of experience in the field, specialised in handling cross-border M&A and private equity deals, according to the press release. She advises alternative asset managers, senior management teams, international institutional investors, corporates and founders, according to the firm's website.

Yates, a corporate partner, joined Travers Smith in 2007 and was promoted to partner in 2015. He focuses on M&A and domestic and cross-border private equity transactions, according to the press release. Prior to joining the firm, Yates was an associate at the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher for over a year.
Recent deals the firm has advised on include Equistone's acquisition of Nexus Vehicle Rental, a UK-based B2B rental vehicles platform; and Bregal Sagemount's minority investment in Enhesa, a Belgium-based EHS compliance content and support provider.
