Squire Patton Boggs hires funds partner from MJ Hudson

Law firm Squire Patton Boggs has appointed Rob Eke as partner in its financial services practice team, continuing the expansion of its funds practice in London.
Alongside its transactional teams, Squire Patton Boggs is seeking synergies to take advantage of with private equity and real estate finance work, it said.
Eke joins from MJ Hudson, the UK-based asset management service provider, where he was a partner in its London office, according to a press release. He joined MJ Hudson as a paralegal in 2013 and was admitted as a solicitor in June 2015, until he was made partner in November 2022, it said.
The move comes a week after Bermuda-based financial services provider Apex Group acquired several operating businesses of the firm, as reported.
Moreover, its former M&A head Andrew Mills joined UK-based law firm Burges Salmon as a private equity partner in its corporate and M&A team.
Eke, who specialises in fund formation and investor representation, works across several asset classes and his practice is split between GP and LP advisory work, according to the press release. He advises GPs on the structuring, promotion and operation of private funds, with a focus on small to mid-market, as well as on ESG-related regulation, including SFDR and the EU Taxonomy, it said. His focus on the fund formation side is on the formation of private equity funds.
He also advises institutional LPs on primary investments, co-investments and secondary acquisitions and disposals. His clients include pension schemes, fund managers, funds-of-funds and other fund investors, it said.
Squire Patton Boggs is set to open an office in Dublin in May 2023, as reported. It hired Dennis Agnew from Pinsent Masons in November 2022 to lead the new team. The firm is seeing Dublin becoming a key hub for various areas of the its business activity, including private equity, tech and life sciences.
