Paul Hastings hires private equity partner
US-headquartered law firm Paul Hastings has hired private equity lawyer Samantha McGonigle as a partner in its London office.
McGonigle will be joining the firm from Farview, a growth private equity firm she co-founded in 2019, which invests in enterprise technology companies across Europe, according to a press release.
Her experience ranges from venture capital and growth equity to leveraged buyouts, advising on technology and fintech transactions, it said. Having previously worked as a private equity partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, she began her career at Hogan Lovells, where she trained and worked for five years.
Paul Hastings has grown its London office over the past year with 10 lateral partner hires and McGonigle marks the latest addition to the firm's European private equity practice, it said.
Four partners joined the firm's finance team in July 2022, followed by high-yield partner Patrick Bright, IP litigation partner Jason Raeburn and private equity and M&A specialist Tom Cartwright the same year, alongside infrastructure and energy partners Jessamy Gallagher and Stuart Rowson in February 2023.
Most recently, the firm advised Oakley Capital-backed cloud-based legal information platform vLex in the acquisition of US legal intelligence business Fastcase. Its Europe-based team advised Tikehau Capital on its T2 Energy Transition Fund investment in French energy producer Amarenco's EUR 300m capital raise, which saw Arjun Infrastructure Partners acquire a minority stake in the business.
[Editor's Note: The article has been amended post publication to clarify that McGonigle will be joining Paul Hastings from Farview.]
