Mercia appoints Mike Hayes
Venture capital firm Mercia Fund Management has appointed Mike Hayes as head of its new digital and e-commerce division.
Mercia's new division will provide investment opportunities for businesses in the e-commerce, digital media and gaming sectors. Hayes's main focus will be building a portfolio of digital media, gaming and e-commerce EIS and seed EIS investments.
Prior to joining Mercia, Hayes was the CEO of Sega Europe and Sega in the US. After joining Sega in 2004 as managing director, Mike progressed to president and launched Sega West.
Mercia has in excess of £19m under active management and seeks to invest capital of between £100,000-500,000, or up to £2-5m as part of an investment syndicate, in businesses requiring expansion or growth funding for EIS investment.
Portflio companies includes e-commerce company Oxford Genetics, PolyTherics and Ventive.
