Mark Florman named as new BVCA head

Mark Florman will succeed Simon Walker as chief executive of the British Venture Capital Association, the lobbying group announced today.
Florman, a former principal at Doughty Hanson, will play a major role in representing 450 venture capital and private equity groups to both the UK government and European Union.
He began his career with Chicago's Northern Trust Bank, and later co-founded Maizels, Westerberg & Co, a Nordic M&A boutique.
Florman will take over from Simon Walker, who has headed the BVCA for the past three years, taking over at a time when the economy and private equity industry were being rocked by the financial crisis and recession, and a political crisis following a parliamentary investigation into the industry.
