JP Morgan's Crawford joins Calculus as investment director
Calculus Capital has appointed Alexander Crawford, formerly senior vice president at JP Morgan, as an investment director in its London office.
As part of his new role, Crawford will focus on overseeing portfolio companies and sourcing and carrying out transactions for the EIS specialist.
He will be joining Calculus from liquid deli Demijohn, where he has served as a non executive director since 2013. Crawford's career began in KPMG, where he was manager from 1989-1994. He was then recruited as director by Robert Fleming, before leaving for Evercore Partners in 1998.
From 2000-2003, Crawford was senior vice president at the JP Morgan's Johannesburg office. He has also worked as managing director at Pall Mall Capital and had a hand in founding Colville Capital.
The appointment comes on the back of the launch of Calculus's 16th EIS fund. The firm most recently led a £2.5m follow-on round for UK online financial management services Money Dashboard alongside Ariadne Capital, Par Equity and the Scottish Investment Bank.
To date, Calculus claims to have undertaken more than 20 exits, including vaccine developer Scancell and UK-based caterer Waterfall in 2014. These respectively generated an 8.2x and 5.2x return for the firm.
