Sun European Partners leads Dreams race
Sun European Partners looks close to acquiring UK-based beds retailer Dreams for around £35m.
Dreams was put up for sale earlier this year following months of uncertainty as the business was struggling with its debt burden. An acquisition by Sun European Partners could take the form of a pre-pack administration, according to the Financial Times.
The GP could see competition from Dreams founder Mike Clare, who is reportedly teaming up with Apollo with a view to acquiring the business.
Exponent Private Equity acquired Dreams in a management buyout thought to be worth around £220m in 2008. The GP had to invest a further £20m in Dreams last year to refinance its debt.
