RBS’s Cockell steps up as Bosson steps down

Following Paul Bosson’s retirement, Steve Cockell has been named as RBS’s head of the London origination team.
Cockell will take on the new position alongside his existing role as sponsor coverage head. Bosson has retired after 40 years working with RBS.
RBS's London origination team comprises 22 people, part of a wider nationwide team of 60 people.
The reshuffle comes as RBS restructures itself from having seven divisions and support departments to just three divisions: personal and business banking; commercial and private banking; and corporate and institutional banking.
In a recent video interview with unquote", Richard Roach, head of RBS financial sponsors, revealed the bank is in the advanced stages of completing formal 'tie-ups' with three direct lending funds on a non-exclusive basis, having already worked out detailed M&A inter-creditor agreements and term sheets.
