
Exponent names Lenane as managing partner

As part of its succession planning, UK GP Exponent Private Equity has appointed Richard Lenane as managing partner, succeeding Hugh Richards.
Richards, one of Exponent's founding partners, is set to retire from the firm in June this year.
Richards has been managing partner since August 2004. He previously spent 22 years at 3i, joining in 1982 as an investment executive from The Boots Company where he was a buyer. In 1986, Richards was named local director of 3i's Brighton operations. In 1989 he became a director in 3i's London office and in 1994 was promoted to regional director for 3i London and the south east. In his final five years with the listed private equity firm he was managing director.
Lenane joined Exponent in 2005 as a senior partner. He joined from Apax Partners where he spent six years as a principal. He began his career as an associate at The Boston Consulting Group.
Other changes to Exponent's team include the appointment of Carl Lavin and James Gunton to directors, while Craig Vickery, partner and finance director, has taken on responsibility for Exponent's operations.
Lavin joined Exponent in October 2014 from Big Play Digital, where he was founder and CEO. Prior to that he spent eight years as a principal at Apax.
Gunton joined Exponent in 2010 as a principal. He joined from 3i where he was an analyst for two years. He began his career at EFG Bank as an investment analyst.
Vickery became Exponent's finance director in 2005. He joined from PwC where he had worked for seven years, firstly as an associate in the audit and advisory business services division and then as an assistant director in the valuation and strategy team.
