Lion, CapVest and Pamplona circle United Biscuits
Lion Capital, CapVest, Pamplona Capital and Germanyтs Intersnack are in the running to acquire the savoury snacks arm of United Biscuits, according to reports.
Credit Suisse is running the sale of the snacks division, which could fetch around €500m.
In 2006, Blackstone and PAI partners acquired United Biscuits for £1.6bn from Cinven and MidOcean Partners in a Goldman Sachs-run auction, beating competition from a consortium led by listed UK food company Premier Foods, who had teamed up with NPM Capital and Lion Capital.
Blackstone and PAI looked to sell the firm two years ago, but put a stop to the auction process as bids fell short of their price target.
