Orrick appoints venture partner
Global law firm Orrick has appointed venture capital specialist Shawn Atkinson as partner in the firm's London corporate group.
Atkinson joins from Edwards Wildman, where he served as co-chair of the venture capital group, the cross-border group and the central & eastern Europe group.
Prior to that, he spent almost four years as a senior associate at Kirkland & Ellis, following a three-and-a-half-year stint as an associate at Dewey Ballantine working in London, Rome and New York.
He focuses on late-stage venture deals and small-cap private equity transactions in Europe and emerging markets. He has also represented Bessemer Venture Partners and Battery Ventures.
In the last two years, he has counseled on nearly 600 VC-backed deals including Nest's acquisition by Google and Facebook's purchase of Instagram.
Earlier this year, Orrick appointed Stephen Phillips from White & Case as co-head of its European restructuring practice.
