AAC abandons fundraising efforts in the UK
AAC has stopped its efforts to raise a £300m fund in the UK, leading to suggestions the British office of the firm is winding down.
The former private equity arm of Dutch bank ABN Amro, which spun out in 2008, when ABN was bought by Royal Bank of Scotland, has terminated its fundraising efforts in the UK. The spin out included the private equity divisions in the UK, Benelux and Nordics and was financed by three investors including Goldman Sachs. The deal had an overall value of close to €1bn. The divisions operate independently from one another.
The firm had initially aimed to raise up to £300m for its UK investment division, after receiving an extension of its investment period for Fund II. The fund had been closed on €955m in 2008.
Recently, AAC Captial UK sold its stake in the flooring products manufacturer Amtico for £98.25m.
