Simon Walker to leave BVCA
Simon Walker will step down from his role as chief executive of the BVCA once a replacement is found, according to a spokesperson for the organisation.
Headhunters Odgers Berndston have been hired to find a suitable candidate, with a view to complete the hand-over of power in 2011. Walker is said to be leaving to focus on his family life, having already established he would stay as head of the BVCA for a maximum of four years.
Walker joined the BVCA in 2007 from Reuters, where he worked on improving corporate communication and marketing. He took the reigns of the private equity trade body at a time of increased scrutiny, following a parliamentary inquiry into the industry.
Walker's departure follows the June announcement of Javier Echarri leaving the EVCA. The two trade bodies are now looking to replace their leaders as the vote on the AIFM directive - vocally opposed by both the EVCA and BVCA - is looming.
