GCP promotes McDonald to partner
Growth Capital Partners (GCP) has promoted investment director Kirsty McDonald to partner.
McDonald has been working at GCP as an investment director since February of last year. She recently led the firm's £13m investment in Scopus, an Aberdeen-based provider of laser survey services for the global oil and gas industry. GCP invested in the company via its £160m Fund III. McDonald now sits on Scopus's board of directors.
McDonald's role at GCP is predominantly focused on the firm's investment activity in the oil and gas sector and covers deal origination as well as fundraising.
She joined GCP following a five-year stint at 3i. Prior to her time at 3i, McDonald worked in the group development team at Trinity Mirror, a UK newspaper and magazine publisher, where she was focused on corporate acquisitions.
UK-based GCP focuses its investment activity on the UK lower mid-market, typically investing £5-50m in management and secondary buyouts. Recent transactions include the £13m SBO of UK-based medical communications company Fishawack from YFM Equity Partners in April. Fishawack then went on to acquire Swiss business Archimed for £6m in June.
