BGF boosts northern team with two hires

Business Growth Fund (BGF) has hired Rob Johnson and Pinesh Mehta as investors in its Leeds and Manchester offices, respectively.
Johnson (pictured) joins from Deloitte, where he advised on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and restructuring. Mehta previously spent 11 years at KPMG, including eight years in the corporate finance team in Manchester, where he advised on mid-market M&A transactions.
The north of England has been one of the areas of focus for BGF investments, and recently yielded a first exit for the fund: printing specialist York Mailing Group underwent a management buyout backed by Pricoa Capital Group in early September, resulting in a partial realisation for BGF.
BGF also recently launched a new, dedicated venture fund with an investment capacity of £200m, which will start operating in Q4 this year. It will focus on early-stage venture deals, especially in the tech sector.
