Phoenix co-founder Lenon to step back
UK mid-market house Phoenix Equity Partners has announced that its co-founder Hugh Lenon will move from managing partner to part-time chairman, with immediate effect.
Lenon co-founded Phoenix in 2001 with fellow managing partners Sandy Muirhead and James Thomas. They, in turn, will take on new roles, with Muirhead becoming chairman of Phoenix's investment committee and Thomas becoming chairman of its management committee.
Lenon has more than 25 years' experience in private equity and is a director of investee businesses LK Bennett, Radley, and Signum Technology. In 2010/11 he was also chairman of the BVCA, the UK's private equity and venture capital sector trade body.
Phoenix had a busy 2012, with a couple of new deals, a handful of bolt-ons and one exit. Earlier this month, the GP backed the bolt-ons of EPC and CTSI by its 2011 investment Edif Group.
Phoenix has in total 10 partners, 35 staff and three UK offices in London, Manchester and Harrogate.
