Brookes joins Impetus-PEF

Martin Brookes, director of Paul Hamlyn Foundation, has joined Impetus-Private Equity Foundation’s (Impetus-PEF) advisory council.
The advisory council advises Impetus-PEF based on its social and private sector expertise. Impetus-PEF supports impoverished children and young people through its venture philanthropy model, which comprises management support from its investment team, pro-bono specialist expertise and investment in charities focused on tackling social problems.
Brookes initially trained as an economist and worked at the Bank of England and Goldman Sachs. He joined New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) in 2001 as head of research. In 2008 he was promoted to CEO of NPC, where he worked for four years. He then went on to become an economist at Fulcrum Asset Management.
His experience in the charity sector includes holding trustee positions on the boards of Pro Bono Economics, which he co-founded in 2009, and the Economic and Social Research Council. In June 2013, Brookes was appointed director of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
