HarbourVest acquires Conversus Capital's portfolio
HarbourVest has acquired the investment portfolio of Conversus Capital for $1.4bn.
The deal marks HarbourVest's second acquisition of a publicly-listed private equity fund in 12 months, following the purchase of Swiss listed fund Absolute Private Equity in a deal valued at more than $800m.
Conversus is a publicly-listed portfolio of third party private equity funds. The firm sold its broadly diversified portfolio of more than 200 companies following a strategic review of assets, announced in February.
As part of the deal, all Conversus shareholders will have the option to receive cash payments. Up to 49.9% of shareholders will be able to roll-over their Conversus units into the new Guernsey-based fund HarbourVest Structured Solutions II.
Debevoise & Plimpton provided legal services to HarbourVest. JP Morgan Securities gave financial advise to Conversus.
