
US and UK law firms announce combination
US-based Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. and UK-based Hammonds LLP have combined to create a new global legal practice.
The companies’ agreement takes effect on 1 January 2011. As a result, clients will have additional support in more markets. Squire Sanders will be among the top 25 global legal practices, with approximately 1,275 lawyers in 37 offices and 17 countries.
The expanded practice's global chief executive officer and chair will be current Squire Sanders chair James J. Maiwurm. Hammonds managing partner Peter Crossley will serve as managing partner for Europe. The company will have a 13-person global board elected by the partners.
