Private equity firms bid for EBS
JC Flowers, Doughty Hanson and Cardinal Asset Management have placed bids for EBS Building Society, according to reports.
It is believed the private equity firms are all seeking downside risk protection clauses as part of a potential deal. The building society is seeking to raise cash from a combination of public and private sources to increase its capital base following a property market collapse.
EBS is seeking €775m by the end of the year and it is thought that the private equity firms are looking to acquire a 60-70% stake in the building society.
