Joules attracts private equity interest
British fashion retailer Joules is planning on selling a minority stake to fund expansion in the UK and overseas, according to reports.
UK-based private equity firm Graphite Capital is understood to be one of a number of investors showing interest in the 70-store Joules chain.
Joules reportedly hired Rothschild last November and is apparently seeking funding for further expansion into the European market, as well as domestic growth. The clothing company currently has franchise stores in Sweden and the UK.
Joules is reportedly worth an estimated £49m. Last year the 30-year-old business recorded a pre-tax profit of £1.2m but is expecting an underlying profit of £7m this financial year.
