Advantage Capital CEO Martin Bodenham has written a novel inspired by his 25 years in the private equity industry.
Last year, Bodenham's company Advantage Capital was in the press as one of the first high-profile examples of a GP suing an investor for defaulting on its commitment. The investor, Robert Adair, accounted for 90% of Advantage's fund. As a result, the UK's Financial Services Authority jumped on the GP for breaching minimum capital requirements, and Advantage is no longer making new investments. That experience provided the idea behind his debut novel.
The Geneva Connection is a financial thriller based around the private equity market and involves organised drug crime. It was released this week as an ebook and will come out as a printed book in the second half of 2012.
Bodenham's career includes 25 years working in senior roles in private equity and corporate finance.
