Steele joins Kirkland & Ellis
Michael Steele has joined law firm Kirkland & Ellis as partner in its finance practice group.
Steele joins from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he has worked since 2008, and was named partner in April 2012.
In 2010, Steele spent a year in Goldman Sachs' leveraged finance team.
In his new role, Steele will continue to advise private equity sponsors, credit funds and financial institutions in areas including cross-border deals, leveraged buyouts, special situations, loan portfolio acquisitions and restructurings.
Steele's appointment comes shortly after Kirkland & Ellis named Joerg Kirchner, previously at Latham & Watkins, as partner in the firm's corporate practice group in Munich.
