Baird Capital backs Medplast bolt-on
Baird Capitalтs MedPlast has acquired UK-based Orthoplastics, a manufacturer operating in the orthopaedic implant market.
Listed private equity fund JZ Capital Partners and US firm River Cities Capital Funds are co-investing alongside Baird in the transaction. No financial details were disclosed.
Baird portfolio company MedPlast, based in the US, provides engineered custom plastic processing for the global healthcare market. Medplast will be expanding its customer base and refining its strategy through this acquisition, according to the company.
Since 1989, Baird Capital has invested in more than 260 businesses. The firm's current portfolio companies include The SR Group, SGX Sensortech and Gabbro Precision, all acquired in 2012.
Based in Bacup, Lancashire, Orthoplastics manufactures ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene (UHMWPE) for the global orthopedic implant market.
