Neil Woodford to join Oakley Capital
High-profile fund manager Neil Woodford is set to join London-based private equity and asset management business Oakley Capital.
Woodford will join Oakley when he leaves fund manager Invesco at the end of April. The firm will provide the infrastructure allowing Woodford to ultimately run his own asset management business, targeting retail and institutional investors.
It surfaced in October that Woodford, one of the UK's most famous fund managers, would leave Invesco in 2014. At the time, expectation was growing in the industry that Woodford would opt to run a private equity-focused fund which would let him nurture start-up companies over the long term.
Based in London, Oakley Capital is an asset management and advisory business with $1bn in AUM. The group notably operates a mid-market private equity division, Oakley Capital Private Equity, which manages a €280m fund.
The business also operates a corporate finance advisory division, as well as a fund-of-hedge-funds.
