Truwit, Sillitoe replace Halusa at Apax helm
Apax Partners has appointed Mitch Truwit and Andrew Sillitoe as new CEOs, taking over from current CEO Martin Halusa.
Sillitoe and Truwit will start their new role from 1 January. Halusa, who co-founded Apax's German office, will become chairman until the end of Apax VIII's investment period, when he will retire. Due to Apax's increasing globalisation and widening scale of operations, the CEO responsibilities also broadened, which led to appointing two CEOs instead of one, a spokesperson for the firm told unquote".
Truwit (pictured left) joined Apax in 2006, where he most recently served as a partner in the services team, working on investments such as HUB International, Bankrate, Advantage Sales & Marketing, Dealer.com, Trader Canada and Garda. Before joining Apax, Truwit was the president and CEO of travel deal website Orbitz Worldwide from 2005 onwards. Prior to this, he was the executive vice president and COO of priceline.com, an online platform offering discount deals. He holds a BA in political science from Vassar College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Sillitoe (pictured right) has been with Apax since 1998, most recently as a partner in Apax's technology and telecommunications team. He has been responsible for deals such as Orange Switzerland, TIVIT, TDC, Intelsat and Inmarsat. Prior to joining Apax, Sillitoe worked for LEK as a consultant. He holds an MA in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford and an MBA from INSEAD.
