Equistone out of exclusive talks for Explore Learning
Equistone Partners Europe is no longer in exclusive talks for the buyout of Explore Learning, a UK-based firm offering maths and English tuition to 5-14-year-olds, two sources close to the situation told unquote".
Although Equistone clinching a deal is now much less likely, a source added that it was too early to say whether the firm was out of the running entirely.
Rival private equity houses Graphite Capital, Inflexion, Bowmark and LDC were reported to be vying for the company at the end of July.
Explore Learning is owned by individual investors and investment holding company Wittington Investments. The company was founded in 2000 and opened its first learning centre the following year. Explore currently operates 60 sites in the UK, many of which are in supermarkets.
