Cinven in talks for Guardian Life Insurance
Cinven is set to buy Aegon’s Guardian Life Insurance in a £250m deal.
Guardian is closed to new business but still has a substantial book of active insurance policies, and it is thought Cinven may be looking at a number of other opportunities in the UK life sector.
Lancashire-based Guardian was founded in 1821 and was acquired by Dutch insurer Aegon in 1999. Aegon is now looking to refocus its business and reduce its cost base.
Cinven is expected to make a formal announcement regarding the deal in the coming weeks.
