Walker Guidelines Monitoring Group appoints new chairman
The Walker Guidelines Monitoring Group has appointed Nick Land as chairman.
Land takes over chairmanship of the group from Sir Michael Rake, who had served in the role since the group's inception in 2008.
Land is a non-executive director on the boards of the Financial Reporting Council, Vodafone Group, Alliance Boots, BBA Aviation and Ashmore Group. He is also a chartered accountant and former chair of Ernst & Young.
The group has also appointed Glyn Parry as independent member. Parry is the director of group financial control at BT Group, and is responsible for the group's financial reporting obligations as a FTSE 30 UK-listed company with dual US listing. He is a chartered accountant and a former employee of PwC.
Parry joins Baroness Jeannie Drake as independent member of the group alongside two industry representatives: Robert Easton, managing director of Carlyle, and Gerry Murphy, senior managing director at Blackstone.
In 2007, the BVCA asked Sir David Walker to review disclosure and transparency in the private equity industry with the aim of recommending a set of guidelines, which were published. The Walker Guidelines Monitoring Group launched in 2008.
