Equistone in talks for Explore Learning
Equistone Partners Europe is in exclusive talks to acquire Explore Learning, a UK-based firm offering maths and English tuition to 5-14-year-olds.
Graphite Capital, Inflexion, Bowmark and LDC are reported to have expressed an interest in the company.
The investment will be made through Equistone Partners Europe Fund IV, which held a fourth close on approximately €1bn earlier this year.
Explore Learning is owned by individual investors and investment holding company Wittington Investments. The company was founded in 2000 and opened its first learning centre the following year. Explore currently operates 60 sites in the UK, many of which are in supermarkets.
