3i makes board changes
3i Group has appointed Simon Thompson as non-executive chairperson of the board, while Jonathan Asquith will become deputy chairperson.
Both Thompson and Asquith were also named as non-executive directors of 3i as part of their appointments, effective immediately.
Thompson will replace the GP's current non-executive chair, Sir Adrian Montague, after 3i's 2015 AGM on June 25. Montague will step down to focus on his other appointments, which includes a new board role at Aviva.
Montague's replacement also chairs Tullow Oil and is a non-executive director of Rio Tinto. Thompson has previously worked for NM Rothschild, SG Warburg and Anglo American.
In addition to his new role at 3i, Asquith is the chairperson of Citibank International, Citigroup Global Markets and Dexion Capital. He has previously spent 18 years as an investment banker with Morgan Grenfell and Deutsche Bank.
