SEP and Albion Ventures exit Exco InTouch
Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) and Albion Ventures have exited healthcare software developer Exco InTouch, selling their stakes to Edinburgh-based group ERT.
With Albion's and SEP's backing, Exco InTouch has quadrupled its turnover over the last three years and increased its staff to 180 people.
Since the firm's respective investments, the company has invested in product development with both clinical trial and digital health programmes. It has also expanded its partnerships with pharmaceutical companies in the US and Europe.
The acquisition by ERT comes four years after the group opened its Nottingham office, which has grown significantly over the last few years, having started with 30 staff.
The combination of ERT, a group specialised in patient data collection for use in clinical drug development, and Exco InTouch will provide further growth opportunities for both companies, expanding their services range and customer base.
Previous funding
In 2011, SEP led an initial £3m expansion round for Exco InTouch, taking a minority stake in the company.
Three years later, Albion led a £3.2m round for the business, with SEP also taking part. Following the deal, SEP remained the company's largest backer.
Company
Headquartered in Nottingham, Exco InTouch provides patient engagement, data capture and digital health services for the clinical research and healthcare industries. The group provides mobile communications services for patient recruitment, retention and compliance, electronic patient reported outcomes, online calendars, and post-marketing studies primarily in the UK and US.
Since foundation in 2004, Exco InTouch has engaged with one million patients across 97 countries, the group said in a statement. It has an international headcount of 180.
