Inflexion in Xtrac buyout
Inflexion has completed the buyout of Xtrac, a UK-based manufacturer of transmissions for the automotive industry.
The investment will support the expansion of Xtrac's factory, purchase of additional machinery and extra hires. The investor said in a statement that the funding will enable Xtrac to meet rising customer demand and advance its capabilities in hybrid and electric vehicles.
The UK growth capital and buyout house has made deals in the specialist engineering sector before with investments in aircraft components manufacturer Shimtech, and Aspen Pumps, a manufacturer of pumps used in air conditioning systems.
Inflexion deal team executives John Harper and Henry Arundel will both join the board.
Company
Founded in 1984, Xtrac designs and manufactures high performance transmissions and driveline components for motorsport and the automotive industry. It supplies many of the world's top motorsport teams. More than 80% of the company's revenues are generated through exports, especially for hybrid and electric vehicles. It currently employs 330 people and is based in Berkshire with offices in Indiana and North Carolina in the US.
In the year to 30 September 2016, the company generated £45m in revenues and £9.2m in profit before tax.
