General American invests in Soccerex
General American Capital Partners has invested in Soccerex, a UK-headquartered organiser of football events.
The GP made the acquisition through its dedicated sport-focused investment division GACP Sports.
Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, though General American typically writes equity cheques of $10-100m for majority and "influential minority" stakes. Publicly available documents reveal the transaction was conducted via a newco.
Soccerex will look to expand internationally, with a particular focus on the US market, where it claims to already have links with national league association MLS.
Company
Founded in 1995, London-headquartered Soccerex organises football events such as conventions and forums.
