Stanhope leads $90m round for S4
Stanhope Capital has led a $90m funding round for listed UK-based digital marketing agency S4 Capital in order to support the $150m acquisition of MightyHive.
The GP drew capital from Stanhope Entrepreneurs Fund to support the transaction; this is the first deal made from the vehicle. The fund was launched in November 2017 with a €100m target and invests €10-20m for both majority and minority stakes.
S4's acquisition of San Francisco-based MightyHive comes five months after the group acquired Netherlands-headquartered MediaMonks for a reported €300m.
At the time of announcing its third quarter results in November, S4 said that its US operations had shown particularly strong growth. The business currently has three offices in the country, including a recently opened site in San Francisco.
Stanhope CEO Daniel Pinto will take a seat on the S4 board of directors following the deal.
Company
Founded in 2018, London-headquartered S4 is a digital advertising and marketing agency. According to publicly available documents, the business generated gross profits of €59.7m from a turnover of €83.4m in the first three quarters of its current financial year.
