Inflexion acquires Marley
Inflexion Private Equity Partners has agreed to acquire UK-based roofing materials manufacturer.
Equity for this deal was drawn from Inflexion Buyout Fund V, which closed on £1.25bn in May 2018. The fund deploys equity tickets of £10-200m.
The vendor of the company is Belgium-based Etex, a building materials firm. In 2018, Etex's roofing division, which includes the Marley, Creaton and Eternit brands, generated €814m in revenues. Profitability for Marley increased as a result of enhanced operational performance in its factories and tightly controlled overheads, according to Etex's annual report in 2018.
Previous funding
Etex acquired Marley in 1999; in 2005, the company merged Marley with Eternit.
In 2016, Marley acquired timber roofing batten provider John Brash & Co for £13m.
Company
Founded in 1924, Marley manufactures and supplies roofing products, including concrete and clay tiles, and roofing accessories. Based in Staffordshire, the company employs 600 people in five manufacturing sites and two distribution centres.
