PHD invests in AMC
PHD Equity Partners has invested in low-voltage cable supplier Auto Marine Cables (AMC).
PHD, which closed PHD Equity Partners Fund No 2 on £20m in 2015, is the private equity division of Dow Schofield Watts. AMC is the second-generation fund's sixth investment. The vehicle writes equity cheques of up to £4m for UK-based SMEs across the manufacturing, distribution, consumer and business-to-business sectors.
Current owners Peter and Diane Hammond are selling their stakes in the business, while Peter Hammond will continue in his position as managing director.
The investment will go towards expanding the company's product range and export trade.
Company
AMC generated £1.8m in operating profit from £14.6m in revenues in 2018. The company distributes and manufactures cables ranging from under five metres to over six kilometres in length. Founded in 1964, the company employs more than 80 people at its site in Worsley.
