BGF exits Bar Soba
BGF has sold its stake in restaurant and bar chain Bar Soba to trade buyer Camerons Brewery.
The current management team, as well as all Bar Soba staff, will stay on after the transaction.
Bar Soba will operate as an independent brand and continue to follow its expansion plan, reviewing new sites across the north of England.
Camerons has acquired the chain to grow its retail pub group, following its acquisition of Leeds Brewery in 2016 and Head of Steam in 2013. HSBC provided financing to support the acquisition of Bar Soba.
Previous funding
BGF invested £3m in the company for a minority stake in 2016.
Company
Bar Soba operates five locations in the UK: three in Glasgow, one in Edinburgh and one in Leeds. The bar and restaurant chain offers food and cocktails. Founded in 1997, the company is headquartered in Glasgow. It generated a turnover of around £5m at the time of BGF's investment in 2016.
