Macquarie acquires Biocow stake
Macquarie has agreed to acquire a majority stake of more than 75% in biogas producer Bioco.
Australian financial services provider Macquarie offers typical investments of $20-200m.
The investment will be used to expand the company’s existing operations in Cambridgeshire and support the completion of the UK’s first biomethane injection point into the national transmission grid.
Previous funding
Lombard Odier provided several million pounds to refinance BioCow’s plant in 2015 through its Green Finance team.
Company
Based in Cambridge, BioCow uses anaerobic digestion to create energy from agricultural waste, by producing biomethane that can be used for heating and as transport fuel. The company was founded in 2012.
