Octopus-backed SimplyCook acquired by Nestlé
Octopus Investments' recipe kit company SimplyCook has been acquired by NestlУЉ.
The acquisition has been made to bolster the company's direct-to-consumer offerings in the UK and Ireland, while the company expects to benefit from Nestlé's operational and international experience as it looks to expand in the UK and beyond, according to a statement.
SimplyCook will continue to be led by its founding team from its base in London.
Previous funding
Episode 1 Ventures led a $1.1m round for SimplyCook in April 2015.
In July 2017, Maxfield Capital led a £2m funding round for SimplyCook along with Episode 1 Ventures, 500 Startups and other angel investors.
Octopus Investments led a £4.5m series-A for SimplyCook in January 2019. The fund has received a small of amount of previous funding from several VCs including Maxfield Capital, 500 Startups and Episode 1.

Launched in 2014, SimplyCook offers recipes combined with pre-portioned ingredients. It is based in London and Kent.
