Ludgate backs Ignis Biomass
Ludgate Investments has injected ТЃ3.1m into Ignis Biomass, a UK-based renewable energy company, in exchange for a minority stake.
The investment will support the construction of a biomass energy plant in Wick to feed the district heating network, which is to be bought from the Highland Council.
The investment was made through the Ludgate Environmental Fund, which launched in 2007 and currently has assets of approximately £39m under management.
Company
Richmond-based Ignis Biomass generates renewable energy from sustainable sources. The company provides businesses and public sector organisations with local solutions for waste management, energy production and CO2 emissions reduction.
People
Bill Weil is chief investment officer at Ludgate Environmental and led the transaction. John Shakeshaft is the manager of Ludgate Environmental Fund.
