Agilitas invests in Impetus Waste Management

Company
Impetus is a waste management and property group based in the north-east of England. It handles more than 500,000 tonnes each year of commercial, industrial and municipal waste through its two waste transfer sites in Wallsend and Washington, and its two landfill sites in Cowpen Bewley and Teesport.

The company recently signed a 20-year contract to supply waste to Air Products as it aims to move away from landfills. The agreement will see Air Products building a waste-to-energy plant in the North Tess Reclamation site, where Impetus will construct a waste transfer station, adjacent to Air Product's site, with a capacity of 600,000 tonnes each year. The project will convert previously landfilled waste into refuse derived fuel, which will create renewable energy for 50,000 homes.

Martin Calderbank is founding partner at Agilitas and Torbjorn Midsem is partner, both will join the company's board as part of the deal.
