Calculus makes £2.5m commitment to WheelRight
Calculus Capital has invested ТЃ2.5m in WheelRight, a tyre monitoring company based in the UK.
The fresh funding will enable the company to develop and commercialise its tyre monitoring equipment.
According to a study completed by auto parts manufacturer Bridgestone, 71% of motorists sampled across 38,000 vehicles in nine European countries drive with under-inflated tyres. This creates two billion tonnes of waste fuel and contributes to the likeliness of a vehicle breakdown.
Calculus has simultaneously announced its participation in a £1.7m round for Arcis, a UK-based research and development microbial application technology company.
Company
Founded in 2004 and based in Oxford, WheelRight develops and retails advanced remote tyre monitoring equipment, which measures the pressure within a vehicle's tyres when the vehicle drives over a sensor plate.
The sensor is also able to weigh a vehicle in motion and assess load distribution.
WheelRight is based in the Begbrooke Science Park and employs 10 engineers. Its customers operate in the commercial vehicle, bus and wider automotive sectors. Clients include bus company Thamesdown and transport group Stagecoach.
