RCapital acquires Harley Medical Group
Turnaround specialist RCapital has bought UK surgery specialist Harley Medical Group from administration.
Following the deal, the incumbent management team will continue to lead the company, which will be restructured using the investment from RCapital. The business will be rebranded to Aesthetic and Cosmetic Surgery Limited, while continuing to trade as Harley Medical Group.
Company
The Harley Medical Group is a London-based specialist for cosmetic and plastic surgery throughout the UK and Ireland. The company also offers non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
The company notably suffered from the scandal surrounding faulty implants distributed by PIP in 2011, and went into administration in November. While Harley Medical Group claimed at the time it had to call in the administrators as it could not afford to deal with the cost of replacing faulty implants, critics argued that the move was a way of avoiding the threat of a class-action lawsuit.
People
CEO Jamie Constable led the deal for RCapital. Pierre Guillot is managing director of Harley Medical Group.
