LDC-backed MB Aerospace buys Thomson Aero
LDC portfolio company MB Aerospace Holdings Limited has acquired the business and certain assets of Thomson Aero Limited from administrators KPMG using capital from its balance sheet.
LDC backed the management buyout of MB Aerospace from generalist engineering firm Motherwell Bridge for an undisclosed amount in 2007. The portfolio company has grown through acquisition and now has around 450 members of staff.
Company
Founded in 1959, Thomson Aero provides engineering solutions and manufactured aero-engine components for civil, defence and industrial gas turbines.
The company, which reports annual turnover of around £6m, will form a new division of MB Aerospace. The jobs of the company's 60 employees will be safeguarded as a result of the acquisition, which will increase MB Aerospace's production capabilities and extend its UK footprint.
