Ambienta backs FoundOcean
Ambienta Sgr has acquired a 35% stake in UK-based sub-sea and offshore foundation grouting services firm FoundOcean.
The investment was made through Ambienta I, a fund focused on the growth environmental sector that closed on €217.5m in 2008.
The capital injection will support the expansion of the firm into new markets, including targeted areas in Africa and Asia.
Ambienta usually makes equity investments of €10-30m.

Founded in 1966 and based in Marlow, FoundOcean provides sub-sea and offshore foundation grouting to the global energy construction services. The firm also offers life extension services for offshore structures, including structural inspection and repair, marine growth control products and cable support.
FoundOcean reported a turnover of around £12m in 2011, representing 100% growth on the previous two years. The firm employs around 100 members of staff and has operational bases in Scotland, the Netherlands, Italy, the US, Dubai, India and Indonesia.

Ambienta partners Rolando Polli, Rudolf Ohnesorge and associate Giancarlo Beraudo will join the Ambienta board of directors. Jim Bell is managing director of FoundOcean.
