Platinum sells Contego to FIL International
Platinum Equity has sold packaging manufacturer Contego Healthcare Ltd to FIL International Ltd for around ТЃ160m.
FIL is a subsidiary of Filtrona, an international supplier of speciality plastic, fibre and foam products. The acquisition is expected to extend Filtrona's product offering.
In 2011, Platinium acquired the healthcare and packaging business as well as the food and cartons packaging business of South African firm Nampak for a total consideration of £80m, including pension fund liabilities and debt. Both businesses were then rebranded under the Contego name, before the food and cartons division was sold to Graphic Packaging Holding Company in 2012.

Established in 1991, Contego Healthcare is a packaging manufacturer, specifically of cartons, leaflets, self-adhesive labels and printed foils for blister packs for the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets. The company has 10 manufacturing sites across the UK, Italy, Germany, France and Ireland.
Under Platinum's ownership, the company built two new factories and invested in printing and folding technology at its sites across Europe.
Contego reported revenues totalling £102.7m in 2012, with an EBITDA of £17.9m.
