Merseyside Special Investment Fund’s (MSIF) Liverpool Seed Fund has invested £100,000 into mobile application developer Host Telecom. The deal was sourced through Liverpool Ventures, an MSIF subsidiary designed to help early-stage businesses reach a suitable investment standard. The new capital will be used to support the proof of concept phase of development for the company’s technology.

Company

Host Telecom is developing a video ring back tone for use on mobile phones and internet-based service providers, which will replace traditional audio-only ring tones and provide a new mass market advertising space for commercial and brand advertisers. The company was founded in 2006 and recently relocated from Rochdale to Liverpool.

The Liverpool Seed Fund’s investment team consisted of Darren Gowling and Mike Bakewell, while Janet Butler has been working with the company on behalf of Liverpool Ventures. Martyn Butterworth is the chairman of Host Telecom.
