
MAIP exits Red Bee Media to Ericsson
Macquarie Advanced Investment Partners (MAIP) has sold UK-based media company Red Bee Media to Swedish communications technology company Ericsson.
The completion of the deal is subject to approval from relevant regulatory authorities and other contractual conditions.
After the acquisition, Red Bee Media will be incorporated into Ericsson's business unit Global Services. 1,500 broadcast professionals will join Ericsson as part of the transaction.
Ericsson started its broadcast services business in 2007, which it expanded with the acquisition of Technicolor's Broadcast Services Division in 2012.
This merger increases Ericsson's UK business to approximately 4,000 employees.

Founded in 2005 and based in London, Red Bee Media provides media asset management, playout and digital video publishing, metadata services, multilingual access services and creative services to broadcasters and broadband platforms.
The company has media services and operations facilities in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Australia. Of Red Bee Media's employees, 1,240 are based in the UK.
